Britney Finally Names Her 2nd Son

Britney Spears has finally made her second baby son's name official and it is... drum-roll please... Jayden James.

But this isn't the first time her second baby has made the news. There have been dozens of rumors surrounding the birth of this child. First sources close to the couple leaked that the baby's name was supposedly Sutton Pierce. There were also rumors from the tabloids that Britney was expecting a girl.

But there's no arguing with the official birth certificate which states that Jayden James Federline was born September 12 at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles. Jayden, who at six weeks has yet to make his public picture debut, was born two days before the first birthday of Spears' first son, Sean Preston.

Robbie Williams Moons Latin Music Fans

The MTV’s 2006 Latin America Music aired last week and with it came a special performance from Robbie Williams.

Britain's Robbie Williams, who won best international pop artist, gave the audience an eye-full before performing "Rock DJ" when he pulled his pants down and mooned the audience.

Another interesting fact about this year’s ceremony is that it was the first to take place outside of Miami. The MTV awards show took place in Mexico which means, "MTV finally understood that Miami is not Latin America," said presenter and actor Diego Luna as some 10,000 attendees cheered.

Diddy's New Press Play

Yes another week has passed here on MusicFanboy and it is time once again to review the new "Album of the Week." This week I have decided to take a look at Diddy's newest venture "Press Play"

Quote: "Given the jumbo scope of his Bad Boy business empire, it's hard to remember that Sean Combs was once just a producer/rapper named Puff something or another. But it's those artistic, pre-entrepreneurial guises that Diddy hopes to re-spotlight on his first solo record in five years."

""Play" is light-years more enterprising than Diddy's sample-happy history might suggest, especially on "The Future," the jittery "Hold Up" and the dirty South romp "Diddy Rock." As if to hedge his lyrical bets, Combs surrounds himself with high-profile guests, including Christina Aguilera, Big Boi, Nas and Cee-Lo. Sprawling but direct in its ambitions, "Press Play" is eye-rollingly egomaniacal even by Diddy standards and hits the skids with a series of love songs in its second half. But it's also a solid and often appealing party jam, and it sounds like, for now anyway, that's Diddy's only business plan."

Global Music Sales Drop

So is Weird Al right in his new song about illegal MP3 downloads? Is it making it harder for artists to get that "solid gold Humvee"? Well according to The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) global music sales have dropped to $13.4 billion a difference of four percent since last year.

If broken down we see that the sale of physical formats has dropped ten percent since 2005, but digital music sales have increased 11 percent. So while there was a lot of controversy among all the peer-to-peer (P2P) programs a while back it appears as though a lot of those users have converted to legal digital downloads.

The total fall is up by 1 per cent compared with the whole of 2005 but the (IFPI) confirmed that sales in the second half of the year were higher due to Christmas sales. The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) also said that both album and single sales had shown a slight rise in 2006 compared with last year.

Madonna Adopts African Child

Well it looks like the Malawian government did not hang up on Madonna's request to adopt an African toddler. From a country that rarely permits outside adoptions this pop diva has been granted an interim adoption.

A spokesperson for the singer said Thursday that she would now be able to leave the country with the boy - named David Banda, according to the cleric at the orphanage where Madonna first met the child - although there were still a number of issues that would need to be satisfied before a full adoption could take place.

"It's not an outright adoption until after a period of 18 months has elapsed but the adopted boy can travel with Madonna wherever she is staying, as long as he comes back to Malawi," her Malawi-based lawyer Alan Chinula told AFP.

Danity Kane Involved in Ohio Car Crash

Unfortunately four members of the new group Danity Kane were injured in a limousine accident Thursday night while en route to a concert in Toledo, Ohio.

The four members were released, but the group was forced to cancel that nights performance as well as their next show on Friday in Rochester, Michigan. Danity Kane is also scheduled to make a pair of appearances in New Jersey, and Pennsylvania on Saturday. It is not known if those events will be canceled.

According to an accident report filed with the Toledo Police Department, the group members — minus D. Woods, who caught a later flight to Toledo — had just wrapped up an appearance at the 92.5 KISS-FM radio studio. They were heading to their performance at Headliners when the left side of their black Lincoln Town Car was struck by another vehicle at an intersection.

The Tra La La Song

Well here we go again with the 3rd YouTube video of the week. When I saw this video I could not stop laughing. The video I chose features the song "Tra La La" by Gunther. Unlike our past two videos this one is not a music video for an original song but rather two guys just messing around.

Jason and Nathan (the two guys in the video) say "We're just two crazy brothers from Texas who love screwing around and making funny videos. I guess we just hoped to become somewhat popular with our video, make something that other people would get a kick out of."

Do you think Jason and Nathan will become somwhat popular from this video? Well they ended up on my blog didn't they? What does that tell you? Go ahead and check it out for yourself below and see if you get a kick out of it.

Jazz Musician Claude Luter Died

Claude Luter, a well know horn player who hobnobbed with Louis Armstrong and was one of France's most celebrated jazz musicians has died on Tuesday at age 83.

Claude was born on July 23rd, 1923 in Paris, and discovered jazz in adolescence and built his reputation at private gatherings during World War II. His popularity soared after the war as France discovered jazz. His band, the Lorientaise, charmed Paris' intellectual elite.

Luter's last public appearance was in September, when he attended a ceremony at the Culture Ministry where a model of New Orleans was given to Paris, his son said. Luter is also survived by one daughter, Isabelle.

Rod Remakes "Great Rock Classics"

It's that time once again to announce the new release of the week! This week's album is Rod Stewart's new album titled Still the Same: Great Rock Classics of Our Time, and so far it's reviews aren't looking too good.

Many listeners of this new album, including myself, are very dissatisfied with Rod's new work because it isn't his own. This new album is simply a bunch of remakes that Rod believes are the "Great Rock Classics of Our Time" and I'd disagree with him on that as well.

To quote Billboard "Rod Stewart may have began his career as a respected singer, yet that respect eroded as he got older, as he became more concerned with stardom than music." And here were are in the year 2006 and Rod is still getting older and obviously caring less and less about the music based on this new album.

Hidden Song on Britney Spears' Website

What, what's that I hear? Is that the sound of Britney Spears doing it again? Why yes yes it is. It appears that on her new website which is under construction you can hear a hidden snippet of what appears to be a new song titled "Rebellion" on the main page.

It can be heard after the growling noises simmer down and Britney morphs into a Bengalese tiger. In the song, she sings, "Be wary of others, the ones closest to you/ The poison they feed you and the voodoo that they do ... But in rebellion, there's a sparkle of truth/ Don't just stand there, do what you got to do ... You'll find it so compelling with everyone yelling/ 'Cause your soul, you're not selling, 'cause you're rebelling."

So no one is quite sure yet if this is just a guest spot on the website or if there is a new album in the works but I will let you all know as soon as I find out.

Control Your Music From Your Watch

Everyone has MP3 players on their cell-phones now. Well imagine if you had blutooth headphones and were able to control your music through your watch, you'd never need to take your phone out of your pocket. Well thats exactly what Sony Ericsson decided to do with their new MBW-100. Now a bluetooth watch is nothing new. Just recently our wristwatch blog talked about the new Fossil caller ID watch. While the Sony Ericsson MBW-100 contains almost all the same features as the new Fossil watch, the ability to control music and a sleeker design puts this watch on top.

Currently the watch only controls Song Ericsson's mobile phones including its Walkman handsets. The list of compatible phones includes the Sony Ericsson K610, K610i, K618, K790, K800, V630, W710, W850, Z610, Z710.

The Killers' Sam's Town

While last week I posted the top four albums of the week, from here on out every tuesday I will post the review of what I believe will be the most popular new release. To start off my new album of the week I chose The Killers' new album titled Sam's Town.

Quote: "Sometimes more is better—and that's certainly the case with "Sam's Town," a lollapalooza of cinematic soundscapes that dashes any fears, or dare we say expectations, of a sophomore slump."

"The Las Vegas quartet still proudly wears its British New Wave influences on its sleeve. But they're presented in a manner that's stylistically undated and given their own character by Brandon Flowers' keening vocals and the interplay between his keyboards and Dave Keuning's versatile guitar work."

Get The 411 From Fergie and Will.I.Am

Billboard reccently got a chance to talk with Fergie and Will.I.Am in a intimate 1 on 1 Q&A check it out!

Quote: "Clad in booty-baring shorts and flanked by a brigade of costumed Brits, she marched down the red carpet during MTV's Video Music Awards preshow at New York's Radio City Music Hall. Exactly one week later in the same locale, the three other Black Eyed Peas cleared the stage for her show-stopping solo set at Fashion Rocks. Again all ears were attuned to her pandemic first single "London Bridge," which remains in the top five of The Billboard Hot 100 after crowning the chart for three straight weeks."

"Now that Fergie has helped transform the Black Eyed Peas from ground-level hip-hoppers to globe-trotting pop wonders, the 31-year-old singer is refocusing on her dream deferred-solo success. Co-executive produced by Peas' frontman will.i.am, her solo debut, "The Dutchess," is a mishmash of bubble-gum pop, hip-hop and R&B grooves derived from her performance-rich background."

High School Musical

Disney's High School Musical recently went down in the Guinness Book of World Records for Most Successful Songs from a Soundtrack. Which I guess makes sense with 7.7 million people that watched it on TV and 3.5 million people that bought the CD. But whose to say that the just because people watched and bought the CD that tthe songs are good? Well in February of this year nine of the songs from the soundtrack charted in the US Top 100.

Now this isn't the first time the movie has been recognized, they are used to it by now. They shared the 2006 Emmy for Outstanding Children's Program with the HBO documentary "I have Tourette's But Tourette's Doesn't Have Me". They also got an Emmy for Outstanding Choreography as well as Outstanding Music and Lyrics for "Breaking Free" and "Get'cha Head In The Game". The movie was also the first movie available for download on iTunes.

Weird Al Takes a Swipe at The RIAA

Weird Al Yankovic's new CD "Straight Outta Lynwood" features a song that takes an exaggerated look at the RIAA, Recording Industry Association of America, and their stance on illegal song downloads. Ironically enough the song is titled "Don't Download This Song" and can be downloaded on Al's myspace page.

Personally my favorite part of the song is when Yankovic talks about what downloading songs illegally will lead to, "Cause you start out stealing songs and then you're robbing liquor stores, and sellin' crack and runnin' over school kids with your car."

In addition to the publicity from this song the release of the album also rides on the parody of Chamillionaire's "Ridin'" titled "White and Nerdy". Both songs are absolutely hilarious so I encourage you right now to buy the album or listen to these two songs for free on Yancovik's myspace.

Legal Downloads From BitTorrent?

Ok, let's say that when P2P (peer to peer) programs first came out all the record companies said "download all our stuff for free," instead of taking legal action. Well that's what's happening now. BitTorrent, a P2P site that accounts for 40 to 60 percent of all internet traffic is now offering music downloads from top artists as well as planning to offer movies.

During the past week BitTorrent has posted a short documentary from Death Cab for Cutie, as well as songs and videos from other popular acts, including the Postal Service, Hot Hot Heat, the Shins, Iron & Wine and Band of Horses. And they have just announced content from Fall Out Boy is coming too.

"Publishers realize and recognize the importance of BitTorrent," BitTorrent spokesperson Lily Lin said. "It wasn't intended, but BitTorrent ended up being used as a facilitator of Internet piracy, but we've partnered with the Motion Picture Association of America to make sure we're cracking down on it."
